Slowing the progression of nearsightedness starts here.
About Misight
CooperVision MiSight 1 Day is a lens originally developed for the control of childhood myopia. As myopia becomes a global eye health issue, this lens is now also available in the U.S. through selected optometrists practicing myopia control.
The MiSight 1 Day is a concentric dual-focus or 'multifocal' lens design, which means it has a clear distance vision zone in the center and peripheral treatment zones. In a way, this lens mimics the effect of orthokeratology overnight corneal reshaping lenses in reducing peripheral retinal 'hyperopic defocus' - a phenomenon linked to eye elongation and myopia progression. The special multifocal optics of the MiSight 1 Day lens refocuses peripheral light rays to reduce the signal for eye growth.

What Age is Appropriate for My Child to Wear Contacts?
Kids can safely wear contact lenses whether soft or hard. MiSight® 1 day soft contact lenses are specifically designed for myopia control and are FDA approved to slow the progression of myopia in children aged 8-12 at initiation of treatment. Many age-appropriate children are capable of taking care of their lenses, and safely inserting and removing them, and parents can help, too. Daily disposable contact lenses, like MiSight® 1 day, are the most hygienic contact lens option and are considered safe for age-appropriate children under the guidance of an eye care professional.
At B-Town Eyecare we believe MiSight and Ortho-K lenses are both excellent contact lens options for myopia control, and the choice between the two options may depend on age, maturity level, individual preferences and suitability. Following an initial assessment our Doctor will be able to advise you on your child's suitability for these lenses.
Who Can Use MiSight?
Any child or teenager who is nearsighted, particularly those who have shown yearly progression and identified at risk of further myopia progression and eye elongation. There is no minimum age for a child to be fitted with MiSight lenses, although younger children may need assistance from parents with daily lens insertion and removal. At present, MiSight lenses are available for prescriptions from -0.25 to -6.00D.
